Readers can now be fitted with microfilm carriers to accept various
types of microfilm. There are carriers that will accept both 16 mm
and 35 mm microfilm in open reels, M cartridge and ANSI Clip.
These carriers are available
in motorized or manual versions, however, for the M Cartridge and
ANSI Clip the carrier is always motorized. Manual threading of the
leader is required.
The Indus Readers 4601-01,
4601-02, 4601-03,
4601-A3, 4601-11,
456D-800 and the 456D-800E
can accept the add-on carriers by simply removing the fiche
carrier and installing the rollfilm carrier.
Genealogy researchers
are finding that using an Indus Reader with the available microfilm
carriers is a very convenient way to conduct their research in the
library or at home.
Those users who have
fiche Readers can convert their Reader to read microfilm as well
as microfiche.
